What is the Difference between Vegan and Vegetarian

Travel through different countries, you will find that a particular food item loved at some place will be an alien in another place. Food is not only connected with the cultural values but it also belongs to beliefs. No matter how much nutrition a food contain, if one belief is not allowing it, its followers will not use that food item. In the same context we see two groups’ vegans and vegetarians. Both groups do not take meat but yet they are different in their ideology.

Vegan

Vegans are the people who do not eat meat or any other product taken from animals. They do not use fur, leather, any product that is made from animal fats or extracts like soaps etc.  They do this on the grounds of animal protection and they say that animals are not to be harmed just to satisfy human tastes. Similarly, no living being should be harmed in any way to get benefits from them. They do not eat dairy products, honey, eggs etc.

Vegetarian

Vegetarian do not eat animal meat. This goes either against their belief or their ideology of living in the world. But they eat dairy products, honey and eggs as well as fish. Some even eat chicken. Some of them do not use any products which contain any animal products like fur, leather etc. while some of them use those products as well.

Vegan vs Vegetarian

Vegan and vegetarians do not eat meat but yet they different from each other. Vegetarians do not eat red meat in particular while some of them also do not eat white meat (chicken, fish and other sea food) whereas the vegans do not eat any meat, both white and red meat. Vegetarians do use dairy products as well as eggs and honey and other eatables that are taken from animals but vegans do not eat even these products.
