What is the Difference between Bronchitis, Allergic Rhinitis, Sinusitis and Sinus Infection
Breathing is very necessary for the survival of every human. There are many organs involved in the breathing of humans. Problems in one part create problems in breathing and one cannot live a normal life. Many diseases are also related to breathing, like Bronchitis, Allergic Rhinitis, Sinusitis and Sinus infection. All these diseases are common and associated with the human breathing system. However, a common person cannot differentiate between them. Here we are discussing some key differences between them.
Bronchitis
Inflammation of the mucous membrane, which are present in human bronchi is called as Bronchitis. These bronchi carry air into the lungs. Bronchitis can be acute or chronic. Acute form leads to cough, which may contain mucus, while in case of chronic bronchitis, cough last for more than a few months. Air pollution and smoking are some major causes of bronchitis.
Allergic Rhinitis
Allergic inflammation of nasal airways is called as Allergic rhinitis. Pollen, dust, or animal dander can cause this allergy. People having sensitive immune system are more prone to allergic rhinitis. Sneezing, itching and watery eyes are few common causes of Rhinitis.
Sinusitis
Inflammation of paranasal sinuses is known as sinusitis. Some infections or allergies can lead to this inflammation. Sometime viruses also cause this infection. It usually takes 10 days to cure this infection. In relation to breathing system, it is the most common problem.
Sinus infection
Sinus infection is just another name of sinusitis.
Bronchitis vs Allergic Rhinitis vs Sinusitis vs Sinus Infection
All these are different conditions related to human breathing, yet they are quite different from each other. Sinusitis of sinus infection is the same thing, which is more common than other infections. Bronchitis is the inflammation of the bronchi, while Allergic Rhinitis is the inflammation of the nasal airways. Bronchitis can be acute or chronic, while Rhinitis and sinusitis are usually short term problems. Bronchitis are associated with cough, while Rhinitis is common in sensitive people. On the other hand, sinusitis can be caused by allergies or infections, but usually its viral. The symptoms of all these diseases vary according to the sensitivity of the person. Constant exposure to air pollution can lead to bronchitis, while rhinitis can be caused by pollen or dust allergy. All these problems are related but different than the others. It is important to differentiate between them, as their treatments are different. However, one cannot lead to the other.
