What is the Difference between Wheezing, Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea

Respiratory disorders are so much common all over the world that usually people don’t pay too much attention towards. Wheezing, Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea are the common examples of such respiratory disorders. Lots of people even don’t consider these disorders as disease and even don’t pay attention towards their treatment until and unless they really feel uncomfortable. Wheezing

Wheezing is a special type of sound that seems just like coarse and continuous whistle. It is produced due to obstruction in respiratory airways that become narrow either due to lungs disease or asthma attacks and results into whistling but continuous sound during breathing.

Snoring

Snoring is a type of unpleasant sound that is produced by a sleeping person unintentionally every time when he takes breath. Blockages of nasal passage or throat weakness are the common causes of snoring. Weight lose, quit smoking and sleep on the side are the recommended treatments of snoring.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea

A type of Sleep apnea, in which upper airway is obstructed is called as Obstructive Sleep Apnea. It is the most common type of sleep apnea. In this condition, patient feels pauses in breathing during sleep. It is also associated with low oxygen level in blood. It may last from 20 to 40 seconds.

Wheezing vs snoring vs Obstructive Sleep Apnea

A continuous sound during breathing is called as wheezing. It sounds like whistle and person feels uncomfortable. Reason of wheezing is obstruction in airways, asthma or any other lung disease. On the other hand, snoring in the unpleasant sound this is produced during sleep. Blockage of nasal passages creates this sound. While, during sleep apnea no sound is produced but patient feels pauses during breathing. So, wheezing and snoring are also breathing difficulties, which produce sound while in sleep apnea no sound is produced.
