What is the Difference between Grapefruits Oranges Tangerines Mosambi Mandarin Clementines

There are many types of fruits in the world. They are different in their colors, taste and health effects. However, many fruits have some sub-classes as well. Orange, grapefruit, tangerine, moosambi, mandarin and Clementine are the names of similar fruits, but different from each other in terms of nutrition and taste. Let’s have a look on difference between them.

Grapefruit

It is a subtropical tree, which is known as a sour fruit on it. It is a hybrid and first bred in 18th century. It was also know as forbidden fruit.

Orange

It is a well-known and mostly grown fruit. It is a hybrid of ancient cultivated fruits pomelo and mandarin. It is a most growing tree in the world.

Tangerine

It is a citrus fruit, which has an orange color. It is similar in shape with mandarin orange. It is smaller then orange in size and less sour in taste also.

Moosambi

It is common specie of citrus. It has various names like sweet limetta, sweet lemon, and sweet lime. It is also called moosambi.

Mandarin Orange

It is also known as mandarin.  It is similar to orange but used plain in eating or fruit salads. They are also reddish.

Clementine

It is a special variety of mandarin orange. It is deep orange in color and has a smooth and glossy appearance.

The difference between grapefruit and orange is that, grapefruit is a subtropical citrus fruit, which is a hybrid and different in color and size. While orange is most grown fruit in the world. It is smaller then grapefruit and has a different color. Difference between tangerine and moosambi is, a tangerine is citrus fruit of orange color. It is less sour then orange and smaller. While moosambi is a sweet, fruit then orange. It has various names. Difference between mandarin and Clementine is, mandarin is similar to orange but it is used in fruit salads, while Clementine is a variety of mandarin.
