What is the Difference between Tomato Sauce Paste, Salsa, Ketchup and Catsup

Tomato is no doubt, an important constituent of our daily diet. However, this is only tomato that is also widely used as Sauce, Paste, Salsa, Ketchup and Catsup. You know well that all these things are necessary part of our fast food and without these instant food items, our fast food is tasteless as well.  However, there is wide difference between these tomato items that is described in following lines.

Tomato sauce

When we simply crush the tomatoes and then cook them, it is called tomato sauce. Tomato sauce could be spicy or sweet. The shapes of tomato sauce could be pasta sauce-like that results from fairly blend type. Many people like to eat tomato sauce with vegetables as well.

Tomato Paste

When we make the crushed tomatoes into highly thick flavor and denser uniformity, this form is known as tomato paste. We can use this tomato paste in various tastes and different recipes as well. This gives real taste with gumbos, soups, stews, pot roast etc.

Tomato Salsa

Tomato salsa is nothing, but a sauce type. When we talk about American tomato salsa, it is not only tomato based but spicy as well especially in Central American and Mexican cooking style. While, in Great Britain, it is known as salsa cruda.

Tomato Ketchup

The essential ingredients of tomato ketchup are firstly tomatoes and then vinegar, sugar and some spices as well. today, tomato ketchup has become an essential part of dinning table and gives best taste with fast food items like burgers, chips and pizza.

Tomato Catsup

A delicious food recipe that is made up of ripened tomatoes is called tomato catsup. The key constituents of tomato catsup are tomatoes, sugar, vinegar, salt, cinnamon, allspice, celery and cloves. Moreover, you can also add vegetables according to your taste.

Tomato Sauce vs Paste vs Salsa vs Ketchup vs Catsup

Ketchup is cold and is never heated as a rule. Sauces are generally served hot. Most manufacturers insist that ketchup is made with spices, onions and garlic while sauce is generally made without spices. Prepared sauces like tomato salsa almost always have sugar added, even high fructose corn syrup. Moreover, sauces are usually on a thinner level than ketchup.
