What is the Difference between Yoga and Pilates

Physical fitness and dreams of long healthy life are everybody’s wishes. People try different physical exercise as well as diet plans to keep themselves fit. They two physical fitness and relaxing techniques, very popular and liked, are yoga and Pilates. Many interesting arguments have been presented on the benefits and advantages over the other, about these two.  But the use and likeness of the two fitness regimes depends on the desire of the people.

Yoga

Yoga is not just an exercise. Its often relate to the lifestyle. It is an age old practice of calming and soothing the nerves. Its age is approximately five thousand years now. Yoga was invented in northern india by some hindu bhakshoos. It includes not only exercise moves but complete diet plans, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxing. Yoga is very helpful in relieving stress and its core purpose is to join the body with its soul. In this process, person frees himself from the troublesome thoughts in a very automatic and invisible way.

Pilates

pilates is not an age old technique. It is 80 years old in age it was created by a german athlete, Joseph pilates. The main purpose of pilates is to condition the body. It is bit complicated but has some poses of yoga. It lays emphasis on the strengthening of the body by elongating the spine. It also focuses on breathing, by inhaling through nose and exhaling through mouth.

Yoga vs. Pilates

Yoga and pilates both focus on shaping the fitness of the body. But they differ in many ways. Yoga is a very old technique whereas pilates in a new technique. Yoga is done to relax the nerves and muscles whereas the pilates lays focus only on to strengthening the body. Yoga is the union of body and soul by meditation whereas pilates does not go that deep. Yoga is lifestyle because it touches every aspect of how to change the life to get calming effect but pilates is merely an exercise though it has yoga moves too.
