What is the Difference between Psychoanalytic, Psychoanalysis and Psychodynamic

Human brain is a complex system of biological and psychological entities. There are different hereditary and environmental factors, which determine human character and personality. Different theories were developed to interpret different human traits. Psychoanalytic, psychoanalysis and psychodynamics are different theories. It is very difficult for a common person to understand the difference between them. Here we are describing brief difference between them.

Psychoanalytic

Psychoanalytic theory was originally developed by the Sigmund Freud. It deals with the definitions and dynamics of personality development. This theory focuses on repression and unconscious forces, including resistance, infantile sexuality and transference. It also divides human psyche into id, ego and superego. The initial foundation of this theory was laid by the Freud but it went through many refinements, done by different other people.

Psychoanalysis

This psychological theory was also conceived by the Sigmund Freud, which was an Austrian neurologist. This theory was developed in different directions by different people. The basic things with which this theory deals is the human behavior, experiences and unconscious attitudes. This theory states that conscious development is highly effected by the events that take place in childhood. By skilled guidance one can overcome the unconscious actions.

Psychodynamics

Psychodynamics is another theory which is related to psychological forces which determine behavior of a human. Particularly it deals with the relationship between conscious and unconscious. Sigmund Freud associated the flow of energy with different processes of mind. It is also called as dynamic psychology. Psychodynamic metal forces are divided into two parts. One is the interaction of emotional forces and second is inner forces which affect behavior.

Psychoanalytic vs Psychoanalysis vs Psychodynamic

All these are different theories which explain human behaviors. Sigmund Freud played a key role in the development of every one of them. Psychoanalysis is basically a type of psychodynamics, which focuses on unconscious motivations and conflict. On the other hand, psychodynamic is related to therapeutic orientation. It deals with self psychology, object relations and ego psychology. Psychoanalytic theory deals with sexuality and transference while psychoanalysis deal with unconscious attitudes and how one can overcome them.  All these theories are different and deals with different branches of human nature, behavior and attitudes. Psychoanalytic is considered as the parent theory and rest two are the branches of it. As the basic concept is developed by the Sigmund Freud, all these are interrelated and we cannot separate one from the other. It is recommend to study them in relation to each other.
