What is the Difference between DUI and DWI

Daily, many such cases are registered, according to which car drivers were drunk during driving. This attitude is growing on daily basis. Many people drink and they think that they are fine. However, they forget that after a certain level, everything will be foggy in front of them. Anyway, drinking, driving and then facing bitter consequences are often close either DUI or DWI.  In many countries these two terms might be taken as the same but in some countries, mostly in European countries, they are the two different charges with different definitions.

DUI

“Driving under influence” commonly known as DUI is the charge when a person is driving after drunk and his blood alcohol content or BAC level is less than or equal to 0.08%. This charge will invite a ticket and appearance in court. Also the person’s car will be locked till he clears the ticket. Medical tests are necessary in this concern.

DWI

“Driving while intoxicated” or DWI is the charge, when a drunken person drives a car with BAC or blood alcohol content higher than 0.08%. This means the person was drunk and his driving could create damage to others on road. This will not only compel the drunk driver to face courts but the driver may also land in jail for some time. Medical will be taken for different tests to get the clear report about the state of the person.

DUI vs DWI

No doubt, both DUI and DWI are the legal charges about drunken state of driver on the road, but, DUI is less severe than DWI. Similarly, DUI is charged for less BAC level as compared to DWI. In DUI, the person gets the fine slip to get his car back, while in DWI the person faces more than that like driving ban for a few months according to the BAC charge.
