What is the Difference between Ice Age Ozone Depletion and Greenhouse Effect

Human beings have travelled the path of invention and technology in the last decade with far more speed than the previous century. The automobiles and other inventions have facilitated human beings more than one can think of. People work in cool rooms because of air-conditioners and travel with ease in their motor cars. These inventions have very advantages but are also harmful. The burning of fossil fuels has adverse effects on our environment. Here are few terms which are thought to be similar but they all are quite different. Some of these differences are discussed here.

Ice Age

It is a geological change in which the temperature of the earth is reduced too much and ice shelves or ice sheets are formed over the continents. It is also known as the presence of the large ice sheets in northern and southern hemisphere.

Ozone Depletion

There is a protective covering around the earth atmosphere which protects earth from harmful rays. The burning gases and other harmful gases react with the ozone and destroy it. This process is known as Ozone Depletion.

Green House Effect

Green house effect is the process by which the heat or other radiations are absorbed by the green house gases and are added back into the environment. It is the main cause for the increase in the temperature of the earth atmosphere. It doesn’t allow the heat of the atmosphere to escape out and adds it back into it.

Ice Age Vs Ozone Depletion Vs Green House Effect

Ice age is referred to the gradual reduction in the earth’s atmosphere resulting in the formation of Ice sheets while Green House Effect is the continuous increase in the temperature of the Earth’s Atmosphere as green house gases absorb the escaping heat and add it back into the atmosphere. Ozone Depletion on the other hand is a process of the destruction of Ozone layer due to reaction with gases.
