What is the Difference between Competitor, Rival and Enemy
Every good and bad person has some opponents. In fact, opposition is based upon some cause that might be individual or collective. There are so many reasons behind oppositions like race, nationality, jealousy, fear, language, religion and many more. The persons that don’t like each other are known with different names like Competitor, Rival and Enemy. Here is the difference between them.
Competitor
Competitor is the person that is entirely opponent or challenger of another person. In broader sense, this term is mainly used in sports and business, where players and businesspersons always try to lead others. However, competitors must belong to same job or nature of work.
Rival
Rivals are always contestant of same game or business and try to put down each other in the competition environment. A rival is almost similar person that we try to define under the heading of competitor. So rivals are the true competitors of each other and could be sole personalities or in the form of a group, but must belong to same nature of field.
Enemy
Any hostile person, group or nation that is opponent of other person, group or nation and even tries to give harm to its opponent is called enemy. Broadly speaking, enemy is the word that is mostly used for the countries or nations that show hostile behavior due any national cause.
Competitor vs Rival vs Enemy
Competitors and rival are interchangeable words and can be used as synonyms. The meaning of both competitor and rival is essentially that person that tries to lead other one without paying harm. However, in case enemy, the opponents do not hesitate in paying harm to each other. Moreover, competitors or rivals are the persons that belong to same business, sport activity or nature of job. However, for being enemies, this condition is not necessary. Another thing is that, competitors and rivals are the words normally used for individuals or companies in contrast to enemy that is used for nations or groups having opposition.
