What is the Difference between Leadership and Management

Giving people a direction and leading them to achieve the desired goal needs not only leadership but also management. A leader cannot be a good leader if he is un-able to manage his-led movement. World has seen, since its creation to date, many successful and failed leaders. Those who were successful got their goals only because they knew how to manage their cause, and those who remain un-successful were un-able to manage to do so. But it does not mean that a good leader is also a good manager, these terms should not be confused.

Leadership

Leader ship means to lead people in a new direction with a new vision by a person who is hatched the idea/plan. This means, leadership to head a new idea or plan that subsequently takes up the form of a movement. In leadership, the future planning is not much sighted because leadership is more emotion-lead direction which may or may not involve any management. Leadership cannot be bound by any specific standards.

Management

Management means to control or to direct (or both) a movement of a group of people with future vision. Management involves brain i.e. it involves all the future sighting of the plan or idea. A person i.e. manager could be a leader as well. But overall management means to control with proper planning. Management is bound by protocols i.e. standards that are either pre-defined or defined at the beginning of the cause.

Leadership vs Management

The first difference is, leadership is to lead people towards achieving a cause, while management means primarily to control that cause. Leadership may or may not involve future sighting or planning but management involves it. Leadership is mostly emotion–led and management is purely a brainy work. Leadership means to keep the level of emotion of the people to achieve a particular cause while management means to work in a controlled protocol-specific environment.
