What is the Difference between Core2duo and Dual Core

Core 2 duo and dual core are two brand names from the Intel Corporation. Both are the processors launched in by Intel in between 2006 to 2010.Nowadays they are a little out of fashion because of i3, i5 and i7 Processors. But still they are used by those, who cannot afford the latest processors. These products still have their market, as they are faster than the all previous Intel processors.

Core 2 Duo

Core 2 duo processors are the real dual core processors having two cores. Core 2 Duo’s have Intel virtualization technology enabled. This technology makes multi tasking possible with improved the system utilization. These processors are available in the market from 1.6 to 3.33 GHz processor speed.

Dual Core

Dual core are the processors having two chip architecture means it has two processors on one chip. Heat dissipation is most fatal problem with the processors. When we increase the CPU’s clock speed up to a certain limit heat, production in the CPU becomes serious. To overcome this problem two individual processors were fabricated on one chip called as Dual Core. Pentium Dual Core processors are available in market ranging from 1.3 to 2.6 GHz processor speed.

Core 2 Duo vs Dual Core

The most prominent difference between Dual Core and Core 2 Duo is performance wise. Intel Pentium Dual Core can be placed in between the Core 2 Duo and Celeron D. Intel Core 2 Duo processors were the very best of their time and Dual Cores were like their low price copy. Core 2 Duo’s have 6 Mb Cache memories while Dual Core has only 1mb, which makes a severe difference in their performance. Core 2 Duo’s performance is far better than Dual Core although they both share the same multiple core technology. Core2Duo exceeds in price range as well from Dual Core processor.
