Handgun
It is a firearm, which is used for firing. It is called handgun, because it is held and operate by only one hand. It is different from other firearms in its size and shape.
Pistol
It is also a firearm, which contain a chamber integral with the barrel. Pistol is also operated by one hand. It has an effective rang up to 100 feet.
Carbine
It is a long firearm, which is small in size and light in weight, which make it different from rifle and musket.
Musket
It was early modern equipment used for firing by the soldiers. It was very important for earlier time’s armies. It has a long barrel.
Rifle
It is a firearm, which is designed to shoot by the help of the shoulder. It has a barrel with helical grooves or groove patterns. It is used for hunting, shooting and sports.
Shotgun
It is a firearm used to fire with the help of shoulder. It uses a fixed shell’s energy to fire a number of small pellets.

The difference between handgun and pistol is, handgun is a firearm, which is operated by single hand. It is small. While a pistol is a firearm having a chamber, which is integral with barrel. It has a better rang of fire then handgun. Difference between carbine and musket is, carbine is a long shape but small in size and light in weight firearm. It is very different from other guns. While a musket is an early used long shape firearm used by armies. Difference between rifle and shotgun is, rifle is designed to shoot with the help of shoulders. Shotgun is also designed same, but it uses energy from a fixed shell to fire.
