What is the Difference between Arithmetic Algebra Geometry and Trigonometry

Mathematics is one of the most basic branches of science. It involves not only day to day calculations but it is the base of the world economy and business. There are different branches of mathematics, like Arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry. Here we are discussing difference between these branches of math.

Arithmetic

Arithmetic is the oldest branch of mathematics. It involves simple counting to complicated business calculations. In this branch we study quantity, and traditional operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Algebra

Algebra is another branch of pure mathematics. It is the study of those rules, which are involved with operations and relations. Equation solving is most widely used operation of algebra. Basics of algebra are taught at initial level and at higher level, elementary algebra is the choice for students of algebra.

Geometry

The branch of mathematics which is concerned with size, shape and relative positions of the objects is called as geometry. We can see wide use of geometry in early cultures. Techniques for calculating areas and volumes were widely used in the past.

Trigonometry

That branch of mathematics which deals with the triangles and the relationship between the sides of these angles is called as trigonometry. We can see wide use of trigonometry in practical surveying.

Arithmetic vs Algebra vs Geometry vs Trigonometry

These are the basic branches of mathematics, and are further divided into man categories. The branch of mathematics which helps us in everyday calculations is arithmetic, while all other are used for specific purposes. Algebra is associated with operations and relations, while geometry is concerned with size, shape and relative distances. Trigonometry is concerned with triangles and related issues. All these branches are closely related and have wide applications in our lives. Trigonometry is used for surveying, while geometry is used for making huge structures.
