What is the Difference between Myeloma Leukopenia Anemia Leukemia and Lymphoma

Blood is very important for every living creature. In humans, it acts as a transportation medium and brings oxygen and nutrients to the individual cells. Blood diseases are very infectious and can play havoc with the health of a person. Many infections of blood are common like Myeloma, Leukopenia, Anemia, leukemia and Lymphoma. Here are the differences between these diseases.

Myeloma

There are three types of cells in our blood. One of them is white blood cell, some kind of white blood cell mature into plasma cell. When these plasma cell start working in an abnormal way, the disease is called as Myeloma. In this disease cell grow uncontrollably and give rise to tumors and other bodily masses. These tumors advance locally and can also affect other adjacent tissues and organs; ultimately it can result in organ dysfunction.

Leukopenia

White blood cells are very important part of blood, when white blood cells decrease in number this condition is called as leukopenia. This disease increases the risk of infection in human body. Reasons of low white cell count could be any infection like cold and flu. Moreover, therapies like radiation therapy and chemotherapy can also result in low count of white blood cells.

Anemia

When number of red blood cells decrease from a normal number, the disease is called as anemia. It reduces the oxygen binding ability of the blood and is also associated with hemoglobin deficiency. All cells depend on oxygen for survival, so anima can lead to some serious medical complications. Anemia is the most common disorder of blood. There are several types of anemia, which have many different causes.

Leukemia

A type of cancer, which involves abnormal growth of white blood cells or blasts, is called as leukemia. This disease is a broad term, which covers many diseases associated with bone marrow and blood. A large number of people die with leukemia all over the world and majority of them are adults.

Lymphoma

Cancer of lymphocytes is called as lymphoma. Lymphoma is usually present in the form of tumor in lymphocytes. Chemotherapy, radiation therapy and bone marrow transplantation are few methods of treatment for this type of cancer.

Myeloma vs Leukopenia vs Anemia vs Leukemia vs Lymphoma

All these are different disorders of blood, usually associated with white blood cells. Myeloma is cancer of plasma cells, which is a type of white blood cells. When white blood cell decrease in number, the situation is called as leucopenia, while leukemia is abnormal growth of blasts, which is again a type of white blood cells. On the other hand, deficiency of red blood cells is results in anemia and cancer of lymphocytes is called as Lymphoma. Cancers of white blood cells result is malfunctioning of immune system, which give rise to many infections. Anemia results in low oxygen supply to the cells and results in serious medical complications. Moreover, anemia is most common disorder of the blood.
