What is the Difference between Urinary Tract, Kidney and Bladder Infection
Kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra are the names of those parts of human body that make urinary system or urinary tract. Undoubtedly, proper and regular discharge of waste materials from body is mandatory for better human health. Urinary tract is the system that ensures this regular and fault-free discharge from human body. An infection in any part of urinary tract can cause irregularity in proper discharge of waste material through urine and also severe illness. Here is the description about infection in urinary tract or any part of it.
Urinary Tract Infection
As urinary tract is composed of kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra, so infection in urinary tract means infection in any one of its part or in more than one part at a time. The common systems of infection in urinary tract are cloudy urine, pain during urination and disturbance in frequency of urination as well. As this is a bacterial disease, caused by a bacterium called Escherichia coli, so use of low potency antibiotics is a key treatment in such infections.
Kidney Infection
Kidney infection is an upper urinary tract infection that is also called pyelonephritis. This type of infection is commonly present in women due to shorter urethra length. The common causes of kidney infection are frequent sexual intercourse; slower transmit of urine in pregnant women and kidney stones. Again, use of antibiotics is the remedial treatment.
Bladder Infection
Bladder infection is a lower urinary tract infection and it is inflammation or cystitis of bladder. Again women are the most affected persons of bladder infection due to activeness of E.Coli bacteria. Sexual intercourse and use of catheters are the frequent reasons of this infection. Bladder spasm and irritation during urination are the common symptoms and use of plenty of water as well as antibiotics is the treatment.
Urinary Tract vs Kidney vs Bladder Infection
Both kidney and bladder infections are the types of urinary tract infection. However, the term urinary tract infection is related to infection in one or more than part of urinary system at a time like kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. However, the kidney infection is upper urinary tract infection in contrast to bladder infection that is lower urinary tract. No doubt, the causes and symptoms of all these infections could be different, but use of antibiotics is the common treatment in all these infection due to activeness of Escherichia coli bacterium.
