What is the Difference between King and California King

King  

King or Eastern King is the standard size mattress. If, you are not specifying the size like length and width of mattress in front of dealer, it is understood that you are demanding King Size or standard size mattress. In terms of length and width, the size of a King size mattress is 80 x 76 inches respectively. This is the maximum available width in all types of mattresses. Being wider in width, these mattresses are highly suitable for the persons, having heavy body structure or you can say fat.

California King

California King or Western King is name of such type of mattress, which has maximum available length in types of mattresses. Being longest in terms of size, California King is highly suitable for the persons having height more than 6 feet. The size of a western King mattress is 84 inch in length and 72 inch in width.

King vs California King

The major and most significant difference between King and California King is their different sizes. In case of king type mattresses, this length and width is 80 x 76 inches. While, in case of California King, the length and width is 84 x 72 inches. It means, King Size mattresses are the longest ones in contrast to California King, which are the widest mattresses. Similarly, King size mattress is suitable for long persons, and western size mattress is apposite for overweight persons.
