What is the Difference between RAM, DRAM, RDRAM, DDR1 and DDR2 SDRAM
Twentieth century is known as the century of inventions. There are many notable inventions made in this period. It is believed that man has progressed in this period more than he has progressed in last five hundred years. Computer is the most notable invention which has revolutionized human beings life. Here we are going to discuss different types of most important part of computer which is known as random access memory or RAM.
RAM
It is the chip which is inserted in the computer and is used for the storage of data in computer. it allows us to access the data at any time irrespective of the order.
DRAM
It is more advanced chip that stores data. It stores data in a separate capacitor and specifies different memory slot to each data bit.
RDRAM
it is a modern type of RAM which not only stores data but also read and share data with other devices. It is relatively costly and has a series of capacitors.
DDR1
It is a series of jointed circuits which are used to store the memory and also allows faster rate of transfer. It is relatively cheap than other RAM types.
DDR2
It is a new version of DDR1 but it is not compatible with DDR1 boards. It is known for its significant low power and fast data transfer rate.
SDRAM
It is the latest type of Ram type and has even complex circuits which allows higher speed of data and due to its significant structure it is widely used in computers.
Ram Vs DRAM Vs RDRAM Vs DDR1 Vs DDR2 Vs SDRAM
Ram is the simplest form and allows to access data randomly where as DRAM stores each bit in different capacitor. RDRAM also shares data with others but is costly where as DDR1 is cheap and allows a better speed. DDR2 is a step forward to DDR1 and gives even better facilities. SDRAM is complex RAM with high speed and is widely used.
