What is the Difference between Toward, Two, Into, Onto, To and Too
No doubt English language has a huge collection of vocabulary. However, it does not mean that even every native English speaker know all about this vast language. There are many such words in this language that we use frequently in our daily life, but have no concept about their actual meanings and place of use. To clear the concepts about such a few words, here is a detailed discussion.
Towards
Towards is a preposition in English language and has meanings “in the direction of”. For Example, he is driving towards home.
Two
Two is a digit in mathematics and shows the count of anything in double quantity. For example, this is a two story building.
Into
Into is used as preposition that has meanings “to go inside of”. For example, I walked into the house.
Onto
Onto means “on the top of”. For example, he climbed onto the house. Onto is also used as preposition.
To
The preposition “to” primarily indicate approach and arrival, motion made in the direction of a place or thing and attaining it or access.
Too
The word “too” is used as an adjective that has meanings “in addition”. For example, he is coming along too.
Toward vs Two vs Into vs Onto vs To vs Too
Toward is a direction like “walk towards the mall”. While, "To" is a destination like “walk to the mall”. Two is a digit rather than a preposition or adverb. Into is generally going inside eg I went into the shop. Onto is generally on e.g. she put it onto the table. While, Too is different from all others for being an adjective rather than a preposition.
